100 Self-Care Saturday Ideas for the Best Weekend Ever

Happy self-care Saturday! You’ve made it through another week. Now, you deserve a day to rest, recharge, and focus on things that bring you joy. Today I’m sharing the ultimate guide to creating your perfect Saturday self-care day to reaffirm your worthiness.

The Importance of Self Care

Self-care is a powerful way to affirm your worthiness and practice self-love. I have been a spiritual teacher for years, and I can’t tell you how many women tell me they’re too busy for self-care, when nothing could be further from the truth.

In actuality, the more time you carve out for self-care, the easier it is to stay healthy, focused, and grounded, so you can take inspired action toward your goals while managing the demands of daily life.

Self-care is all about prioritizing your physical, emotional, and spiritual health by engaging in activities that make you feel relaxed and peaceful. By taking care of yourself, you can replenish your energy, soothe away stress, and cultivate a greater sense of balance and resilience. Remember, taking care of yourself is not selfish; it’s a necessity!

What Is Self-Care Saturday?

Self-Care Saturday is a dedicated day of the week for you to prioritize your personal wellbeing – mind, body and spirit.

Self-care Saturday is scheduled weekend time to engage in activities that nurture your soul, help you relax, and bring you joy. This should be a regular occurrence in your life, not a once-in-a-blue moon event! That’s why it’s so effective to pick a day of the week to reserve for your favorite self-care activities.

If you have a typical Mon-Fri work schedule, Saturday is usually the most convenient day to dedicate to self-care activities. Another popular choice is self-care Sunday. The day of the week doesn’t matter, the routine does. So pick a day of the week that works best for your schedule.

In general, here are the themes to keep in mind for self-care Saturday:

  • Rest and relaxation
  • Mindfulness
  • Nourishing your body
  • Creative expression
  • Spiritual growth
  • Pampering
  • Detox + disconnect

My Favorite Self-Care Weekend Quotes

I hope these self-care quotes inspire you! Which one is your favorite? Mine is #2!

On Saturday afternoons when all the things are done in the house and there’s no real work to be done, I play Bach and Chopin and turn it up real loudly and get a good bottle of chardonnay and sit out on my deck and look out at the garden.

Maya Angelou

I lied and said I was busy.
I was busy;
but not in a way most people understand.

I was busy taking deeper breaths.
I was busy silencing irrational thoughts.
I was busy calming a racing heart.
I was busy telling myself I am okay.

Sometimes, this is my busy –
and I will not apologize for it.

Brittin Oakman

Self-care is giving the world the best of you, instead of what’s left of you.

Katie Reed

Saturday night is perfect for writers because other people have ‘plans’.

Mike Birbiglia

As important as it is to have a plan for doing work, it is perhaps more important to have a plan for rest, relaxation, self-care, and sleep.

Self-Care Weekend FAQs

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about Self-Care Saturday. I hope you find them helpful – and if you have any questions, please leave a comment below and I’ll do my best to answer them.

Is it Self-Care Saturday or Self-Care Sunday?

Self-care can be practiced on any day of the week, and there’s no strict rule that it must be specifically Saturday or Sunday. Both days can be suitable for self-care, depending on your specific schedule and preference.

Some people may prefer to use Saturday as their designated self-care day because it falls at the end of the workweek, providing an opportunity to unwind and recharge after a busy week. Others may choose Sunday for self-care, as it’s often seen as a day of rest and relaxation before the start of a new week.

Ultimately, the best day for self-care is the one that works best for you!

Is Saturday a Self-Care Day?

Absolutely, yes! In fact, any day that works for you can be a perfect self-care day. Self-Care Saturday is just a popular choice since most people have the day off.

You can and should practice self-care every day of the week, in one way or another. That being said, many people find it helpful to designate a specific day, such as Saturday, as a dedicated time for self-care. It really helps me to know that no matter what my week holds, I always have a self-care day to look forward to.

Ultimately, the key is to listen to your own needs and prioritize self-care regularly, whether it’s through daily rituals, weekly routines, or occasional indulgences. By making self-care a consistent part of your life will make you happier, healthier and more emotionally balanced.

How do you rest on a Saturday?

Personally, I have no problem unplugging from reality and shifting straight into rest & relaxation mode on Saturday. But everyone is different.

My sister, for example, usually has a list of things to do every Saturday, from meal planning to cleaning bathrooms. So if you feel like resting on a Saturday is just not in the cards for you, that’s totally okay. You might choose another day of the week as your self-care day.

But if you’re looking for some general tips, here are some ways to help you rest and unwind on a Saturday:

Sleep in: Allow yourself to wake up naturally without an alarm clock. Enjoy the luxury of extra sleep and let your body dictate when it’s ready to rise.

Morning Rituals: Start your day with a calming morning ritual, like a quick meditation followed by gentle stretching, and your favorite drink.

Stay in Pajamas: If you work outside the home during the week, it’s a nice treat to stay in comfy clothes at home!

Get Outside: Nature is powerful medicine. I challenge you to spend 15 minutes outside, regardless of weather. Take a walk or just sit outside and watch the birds. I promise you’ll feel more relaxed by the time you head back inside.

Listen to Your Body: Let your body guide you – if you take the time to quiet your mind and ask your body what it needs, you’ll receive a clear response. You may get the impulse to exercise, take a nap, or drink more water. Be sure to honor the guidance you receive.

Conclusion

I am so glad you are taking the time to build self-care into your Saturday. You truly are worthy of more pleasure, relaxation, and ease in your life. I hope you found some great ideas to add to your self-care checklist.

Sending you love!
