Can you really manifest something just by writing it down? Yes! Your mind is the most powerful tool there is for attracting your desires. Today, I’m sharing a step-by-step guide on how to manifest on paper, plus the 5 best writing techniques to choose from. Grab your journal and let’s begin!
What Is Manifesting?
Manifesting is the process of turning your thoughts to things. You are always manifesting; just take a look around you. Everything you see started out as a thought, idea, or desire in someone’s mind.
The fact is, you’re always manifesting your reality. But very few people do it with intention. So you should take a moment now to honor yourself for finding your way here!
In a nutshell, your life experiences are a result of your dominant thoughts, feelings, and expectations. You can use the manifesting methods below to upgrade your thoughts, which will allow law of attraction to deliver you experiences to match.
Manifesting is easy and fun when you know how to do it!
How To Manifest on Paper
1. Set Your Manifestation Intention
Manifesting is all about intention! So your first step for manifesting on paper is to choose your intention. I recommend working on one intention at a time, so you can give it your full attention and focus.
I like to use a positive affirmation that captures my desire. For example, if you’re focused on manifesting someone special in your life, you might say something like:
“My soulmate is finding their way to me now.”
You can use these paper techniques for literally anything that’s important to you. I have a ton of affirmations you can choose from, if you need help with ideas:
2. Choose Your Writing Method for Manifesting
Once you’ve set your manifestation intention, it’s time to choose a manifesting technique. We’re focusing on written techniques in this post, and I will share the most popular 5 options below.
I strongly recommend keeping your writing manifestation exercises together in a dedicated journal. This gives you a sacred and personal space for you to open your heart and explore what you want to create for yourself going forward.

3. Move Up The Emotional Scale
After you’ve completed your manifestation writing technique, your main job is to focus on moving up the emotional guidance scale.
The way you feel is the most important ingredient when it comes to manifesting. This is because the law of attraction is going to bring you experiences that match your dominant thoughts, feelings, and expectations.
Now is the time to practice surrender, turn the details over the universe and keep reaching for the best thoughts available to you in the moment.
Feeling good makes you a manifestation magnet!

4. Journal Your Progress
As the days go by, start looking for evidence of your desires manifesting and write about them in your journal. Celebrate every little thing that shows up in support of your goals, because affirming your gratitude will help you to manifest quicker.
5. Take Inspired Action
Of course, some action on your part is required to bring your dreams into reality. As a result of setting intentions and keeping your vibe high, you will begin to notice inspired action kicking in.
For example, you may get the impulse to start a project that sounds fun or research a specific topic. Or you may wake up with a brilliant idea that you feel strongly guided to act on.
This is the universe’s way of getting you to the right place at the right time for your desires to manifest! There is a huge difference between taking action for action’s sake and being guided by your Source. So keep focusing on feeling your best and trust your impulses when you’re in that high vibing state of mind.
Methods for Manifesting on Paper
The 5 manifesting methods below are all done on paper, using the affirmation or intention you came up with in step 1 above. Choose whichever one feels best for you!
The 369 method is super easy to do. Simply write your affirmation in your manifesting journal:
- 3 times in the morning
- 6 times in the afternoon
- 9 times at night
I recommend keeping this up for about a week or so.
As you connect with the power of your affirmation, allow yourself to imagine it coming true. What feelings, visions, or ideas come up?
These numbers have significant spiritual meaning in numerology. You can read more about them here:
I adore scripting! It’s such a beautiful way to capture the power of your imagination for manifesting. Curl up with your journal and write an entry as if you are in the future, and you’ve already manifested your desire.
Write about what your life is like, and most importantly, the feelings that surface when you envision your dreams coming true.
This is such an effective exercise because your subconscious mind doesn’t know the difference between a vivid fantasy and reality. You’re really putting law of attraction to work when you do scripting! Read this for a deeper dive + examples: How To Use Scripting To Manifest Your Happy Future
The pillow method is perhaps the easiest way to manifest by writing down your intentions. Just write your affirmation on a piece of paper and pop it under your pillow. Leave it there for several nights and repeat it to yourself as you’re falling asleep.

This method is also great if you enjoy lucid dreaming or have a tendency to receive intuitive insights through dreams.
This method is best if you’re not feeling confident in your ability to manifest. It focuses on moving you up the emotional scale so that you become a vibrational match to your desires.
Grab some paper and draw a circular pie with 12 pieces. Inside each piece of pie, write a positive statement about how you’re feeling.
Each statement will gradually become more and more positive, until you’re feeling pumped up and motivated to claim your upgrades! Find details and examples here: How To Make a Focus Wheel For Manifesting
You can use your affirmation as a prompt for journaling about your desires. You can write about how you feel, what’s holding you back that you’d like to work on, and what you’re most excited to experience.
Journaling about your goals is a beautiful way to gain clarity on what you want and how to get there. I have oodles of journal prompts for you to choose from:

- Heart Chakra Journal Prompts
- New Moon Journal Prompts for Monthly Manifesting
This is my new favorite way to manifest on paper because it’s fun, easy, and puts a new spin on using affirmations. All you need to do is make a list of things you want to attract, phrased in the present tense, like they’ve already manifested.
What I love about this method is that you can list things on all sorts of different subjects, instead of just focusing on a single desire. For example your list may include:
- I’m deeply fulfilled by my work
- My home is a beautiful and cozy haven
- I have plenty of time and energy to pursue my interests
- I’m in the healthiest romantic relationship of my life
- My body is healthy and thriving
Boom! This technique is so powerful and so much fun. I have examples and a free template here if you want to learn more: How To Write a Manifestation List in 3 Steps: Examples + Template
